Description:
DDC Clinic is a non-profit center specializing in the care of special needs children. It is also a research facility serving patients with complex medical conditions and needs.
Summary of Services:
- Our office worked along side the project architect, general contractor and the local Amish community to design this unique, one-of-a-kind medical facility. We were involved from schematic design through start-up and commissioning, offering LEED design consulting services. The project achieved LEED Gold certification.
System Design Highlights:
- This building is an energy efficient, LEED Gold certified building. The building envelope was designed to optimize thermal performance with a ground-source geothermal heat pump HVAC system and an energy efficient lighting system.
Unique Project Challenges:
- This project required the design of efficient, sustainable MEP systems within the owner’s budget, presenting our office with a unique and rewarding challenge. In performing the whole building energy modeling required for LEED Energy and Atmosphere credits, we implemented several creative energy savings measures that have continued to benefit the owner to this day.
